RED WINE

Factors that influence the wines taste.

There are a number of factors that will influence how a red wine will taste;

  • Serving temperature - in general reds should be served between 15-18C
  • Accompanying food
  • The wine bottle closure - cork or stelvin closures
  • Decanting or aeration before consumption - Decanting allows the wine to mix with air, enhancing the bouquet and softening the impact of acidity and tannin
  • Storage and wine defects
  • Lastly the wine always seem to taste better when shared amongst good friends

One of the best ways to enhance a red wine is to decanter or aerate that wine, if you have the time then use a decanter if time is an issue then grab a magic decanter wine aerator - the difference for the better is generally significant.
